Roger Federer shares why 2009 French Open is not his best career win
Roger Federer was asked if achieving his Career Grand Slam in the 2009 French Open was his biggest career win. The Swiss player said: "I think no because if I do not win my first Wimbledon (in 2003), the cycle would not start. Winning my first Wimbledon was such a dream come true, it was a dream beyond everything, I felt I could beat anybody and win any tournament after that. That's a big moment in your career like Zverev or Tsitsipas winning the World Tour Finals. So I would put my first Wimbledon probably over anything."
Federer also spoke about his exhibition matches in South America: "Tour has been great fun. It's been busy, we went to Buenos Aires, then flew to Santiago, back to Buenos Aires, then we flew to Colombia. The people could have not been nicer, louder, crazier in a good way. Very welcoming towards me, my team, Sascha and everybody. The matches have been a lot of fun, all sold out, they have been very different to traditional tennis crowds. More like football."
Federer finally spoke about his mindset playing exhibition matches in South America this week with Alexander Zverev: "We play hard, fair, we all want to have a good time and interact with the crowd. That's really important to show how much I appreciate that they come out and pay big money to watch. They could do something else on the night but instead they come to watch us and we try to put on a good show but we are gonna play a good tennis because that's what people want to see and not me as a clown."
