Tim Henman gives his verdict on the Medvedev-Tsitsipas clash

Former Brit No.1 Tim Henman recently explained why he feels Daniil Medvedev will begin his ATP Finals campaign by beating Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas. The in-form Russian and Tsitsipas go head-to-head in the season-ending event today afternoon at the O2 Arena in London.

Tsitsipas is yet to get a win over Medvedev and the two have played this year at the Miami Masters. Medvedev comes into this clash in fine form, winning 29 of his last 32 matches and an overall record of 59-18.

Henman also feels that Medvedev’s consistency can prove vital in today’s clash between the two young guns. ‘This is going to be a really interesting match,’ Henman told BBC Sport. ‘Medvedev is the one player who has taken a lot of people by surprise this year.

He further added, ‘It’s not just been his level of play, but the consistently has been superb. He’s won a lot of tournaments, he’s been in final after final and he’s won big tournaments too. ‘I would give him the slight edge there but it’s going to be interesting to watch.’

Three of the youngest four players have landed in Group Andre Agassi, with Stefanos Tsitsipas, Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev standing in Rafael Nadal’s path. Medvedev and Tsitsipas are making their debuts at the O2 but Zverev enters as defending champion, winning the title last year by beating Novak Djokovic.
