Holger Rune Shares His Thoughts On Ken Carlsen e Davis Cup

Danish teenager Holger Rune and his mother Aneke Rune say that they had a good relationship with outgoing Danish Davis Cup captain Kenneth Carlsen and hope to have the same with new captain Frederik Nielsen.

Some media reports had indicated that a section of the Danish players in the Davis Cup team was not happy with Carlsen's captaincy. But, it Rune and his camp, at least, seem to have no issues with Carlsen.

The 16-year-old Rune, one of the top junior prospects in the world, says, "We have been pretty positive about Kenneth. He gave cool energy to the team and there was a good atmosphere. It seemed like everyone on the team was doing well."

Rune's mother and manager, Aneke Rune, also had kind words to say about Carlsen. "Holger is used for long-term training with, among others, Lars Christensen. Because it is a long process when working with an ambition to become the world's best, as Holger does. That's why Holger thinks it's been liberating to play the Davis Cup because it's about performing here and now. Kenneth is very good at getting players to peak on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and that's how they play on Monday. He is good at sparring, and then the old top players know just how to hit the ball. It's the same with Michael Tauson. They don't miss a ball, and for boys like Holger it's all about getting the ball back, so they get something to work with regularly."
