Nicolas Massu reacts to being nominated for coach of the year
Coach Nicolas Massu didn't hide his happiness and satisfaction after being nominated for the coach of the year by the ATP Tour.
Massu, the 2004 Athens Olympics champion, started working with Austrian Dominic Thiem in February.
The Austrian made a bad start to the season but it all improved for him after hiring Massu.
Shortly after hiring the Chilean, Thiem captured his maiden Masters title in Indian Wells after beating Roger Federer in the final.
After his victorious run in Indian Wells, Thiem made six more finals in the rest of the season.
The Austrian won it all in Barcelona and Beijing and also fulfilled his dream of making it all the way in Kitzbuhel and Vienna.
The 26-year-old lost two finals as he ended runner-up at the French Open and Nitto ATP Finals.
Thiem also finished the season on a career-high ranking of No. 4 in the world.
The coaches of Rafael Nadal (Carlos Moya), Daniil Medvedev (Gilles Cervara), Stefanos Tsitsipas (Apostolos Tsitsipas) and Matteo Berrettini (Vincenzo Santopadre) were also nominated for the coach of the year.
