Roger Federer shares why he doesn’t play more events, reveals his ‘top priority’

In an interview to the Swiss journal La Tribune de Geneve, Roger Federer spoke about his children, saying they are his top priority and the reason why he doesn’t play many tournaments: “They grew up a lot. I’ve already done so many things with them, we can already talk about so many subjects. All of this shows me how quickly time has passed. That's why I always try to remember, to take some extra time with them, not to go too fast, not to absolutely play all the tournaments. With Mirka, they are my top priority.”
The 38-year-old also spoke about the time when he makes his introspection: “I do it during the holidays. I just came back: two weeks with Mirka, the children and my parents. There, I take advantage of real moments of tranquility, alone, to review the year and look forward. I'm trying to sort out what has worked and what hasn't worked. For me, the holidays are more conducive to this introspection than the week of Christmas. Now, I am already in the middle of preparation and I have less time for myself. I became again a professional tennis player turned towards his next goals.”
The Basel native, who announced his calendar earlier in the week, will open his 2020 season at the Australian Open, in Melbourne. He has decided to skip the ATP Cup and won’t take part in any other events prior to the first Grand Slam.
