Sergi Bruguera e Anabel Medina Likely to be Reappointed as National Coaches for 2020

Tennis - Sergi Bruguera and Anabel Medina are likely to be re-appointed as national coaches by the Spanish Tennis Federation for one more year. The website reports that the two captains have the support of most of the players and the Federation's Sports Director Javier Soler. The contracts of both players recently ended at the end of the 2019 season.
Bruguera, a former two-time French Open champion himself, led the Spanish team to another Davis Cup title this year - the sixth Davis Cup title for Spain and enjoys the support of most of the Spanish men on the team. Medina will be hoping to lead the Spanish team to the Fed Cup title next year as the women's Fed Cup will also see a new one-week format to be held in Budapest in April 2020. With the combination of Garbine Muguruza and Carla Suarez in the team, the Spanish Fed Cup team is likely to have a good chance to win the title.
Suarez recently announced that she would retire at the end of the 2020 season. Spain will need to beat Japan in the playoffs in February to enter the Fed Cup finals in April. Besides being the Fed Cup captain, Medina also helped Muguruza during the final part of the season in 2019 after Muguruza split with her coach Sam Sumyk. Muguruza has recently announced that she would work with Conchita Martinez now for the next year.
Spain beat Belgium and Japan this year to move into the World Group Qualifiers. The last time Spain was in the World Group was 2017 and the last time they won the Fed Cup was in 1998.
