Daniil Medvedev: Hopefully I can win seven matches at Melbourne Park

World No. 4 Daniil Medvedev is happy to once again make the second week at Melbourne Park as he hopes to go a step further this year and potentially win his maiden Grand Slam title.

Medvedev, seeded at No. 4, overcame rising Australian star Alexei Popyrin without any problems in straights sets 6-4 6-3 6-2 to reach the Australian Open round-of-16.

Last year, Medvedev made the last-16 at Melbourne Park for the first time in his career, before falling short in four sets to eventual champion Novak Djokovic.

This time, Medvedev's chances of making the quarterfinal at Melbourne Park are better as next up for him will be Swiss Stan Wawrinka.

"I am happy to win it in straight sets,” Medvedev said after beating Popyrin, per the ATP Tour. “I have good memories from last year, which was my first time in the second week of a Grand Slam and hopefully I can make it even further this year. I just try to win as many matches as I can; hopefully I can win seven here."
