Lleyton Hewitt praises his squad ahead of the Davis Cup clash with Brazil

The 28-time Davis Cup champions Australia will host Brazil at Memorial Drive Tennis Club in Adelaide between March 6-7 in the Davis Cup Qualifiers round. Together with another 11 ties all over the world, the Australians will have the opportunity to watch their finest players at revamped Memorial Drive Club that hosted both the ATP and WTA events in the third week of the season. Novak Djokovic and Alex de Minaur were forced to withdraw from the ATP 250 event ahead of the Australian Open and the crowd still had the opportunity to watch some of the finest players in the world, with four youngsters reaching the semi-final and Andrey Rublev who became the inaugural champion.

Two months later, the Australian tennis fans will cheer for the national squad against Brazil, with Australia seeking a place at the Davis Cup Finals in Madrid for the second year in a row. Confident about the abilities of his team, Lleyton Hewitt is hoping for another strong Davis Cup run that starts from Adelaide just like the previous one in 2019, highlighting the depth of the Australian's singles tennis at the moment and looking for the best possible result in front of the home fans.

"Adelaide was the kick starter to our Davis Cup campaign in 2019, and we are eager to return as we look to qualify again for the finals in Madrid. Any opportunity to play for Australia is special and particularly at home in South Australia. We have a lot of depth in the men's rankings at the moment, particularly in singles with six players in the top 100, so we'll be ready to go when we face Brazil," Davis Cup captain Lleyton Hewitt said. 

Tennis SA CEO Debbie Sterrey said: "We're delighted the new-look Memorial Drive Tennis Centre has been selected to host the Davis Cup qualifier between Australia and Brazil. South Australia has embraced the Adelaide International in its first year and we are expecting the local community and interstate visitors will again come along in full force to support the green and gold in March."

To welcome back some of tennis' biggest names in a matter of weeks of having hosted them, will inject even more life into South Australia's bumper summer of sports and further visitor economic expenditure," Premier Steven Marshall said.
