Roger Federer celebrates ultimate ranking record as the first player with..

The 38-year-old Roger Federer is still very much at the top of his game, finishing the previous season inside the top-10 for the record-breaking 17th time and staying in front of all the rivals besides Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. Twenty years after making a debut at the Australian Open, Roger is among the favorites for the title together with Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Daniil Medvedev, making a convincing start over Steve Johnson with a 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 triumph in an hour and 21 minutes. It was the first victory for Roger in the new season, extending his streak of at least one ATP win to 23 years and seeking more big records and achievements in the rest of the event and season in general.

On Monday, Roger also became the first player with 900 weeks in the top-10, extending his own record and adding another milestone to his already impressive tally of records. Making steady progress in his early seasons on the Tour, Roger cracked the top-10 for the first time in May 2002 at the age of 20 following the first Masters 1000 title in Hamburg. After minor ups and downs, Federer found himself in the top-10 again in October and stayed there for more than 14 years before that knee injury from 2016 that pushed him out from the top-15 for almost three months.

The Swiss made a great comeback in 2017, winning three Major titles between the Australian Open 2017 and 2018 and cementing his place among the elite where he stayed ever since, leaving his closest rivals Jimmy Connors on 816 and Rafael Nadal on 770. Roger had spent the record-breaking 310 weeks at the top of the ATP standings, 218 in the second place of the list and 218 in the third, enough for almost 750 weeks in the top-3, which pretty much speaks for itself and requires no further interpretations. Despite being one of the oldest players left in the Tour, the legendary ace born in 1981 is still eager to compete as ever before, hoping to stay in the top-10 as long as possible and battle with much younger opponents, despite the fact some of them were only kids when he cracked the top-10 for the first time!
