World of tennis pays homage to Kobe Bryant

World of tennis pays homage to Kobe Bryant, the basketball legend of the Los Angeles Lakers, who died yesterday at the age of 41 years-old in an accident on his private helicopter near Calabasas, in the county of Los Angeles (California), together with his 13 years-old daughter and another 9 people.

The tragedy shook the whole world of sport and beyond, because Bryant was one of the sportsmen who could bring together the love of fans and crowds. For twenty years Bryant was a symbol of the Los Angeles Lakers who withdrew the two shirts with which he played, the numebr 8 and the numer 24, an honor that had never been reserved for anyone. Kobe retired from basketball in 2016, remaining one of the most celebrated stars in sports history.

Many tennis players joined in condolence. In fact Kobe, after retiring from basketball, became passionate about tennis, making friends also with Novak Djokovic and Naomi Osaka. Kobe was helpful to Djokovic when the Serb came out of the top-20 after the elbow injury, while Osaka was one of the first people to whom Bryant sent his Legacy and the Queen novel, written by Annie Matthew but created and created by Bryant, and which tells the story of a twelve years-old girl who wants to win a tennis tournament to save her father's orphanage.

His disappearance moved the tennis world, from which many messages of affection came on social networks, such as those of Matteo Berrettini, Sloane Stephens, Billie Jean King, Kim Klijisters, Denis Shapovalov and many others.
