Aljaz Bedene reflects on shock Stefanos Tsitsipas win in Rotterdam
World No. 52 Aljaz Bedene couldn't hide his happiness after scoring an upset win in the Rotterdam round-of-16 on Thursday.
Bedene, a former world No. 43, saw off second-seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas 7-5 6-4 to set up a quarterfinal rising Canadian star Felix Auger-Aliassime.
"(It feels) great. I guess it always feels great when you win against a top-10 player. It's only my second time (that I have beaten a top-10 player) so it feels great," Bedene said after beating Tsitsipas.
Tsitsipas was pressuring Bedene in the first set but the Slovenian saved two break points in the second game and three more in the eighth game before claiming the lone break of the set in the 11th game.
Bedene then got off to a fast start to the second set as he broke Tsitsipas in the third game and routinely held on to his serve for the rest of the match to seal the win.
"The only thing I tried to do out there was to be focused on my game and that's what I think I delivered. I'm happy and pleased with the performance," Bedene added.
