Daniil Medvedev: I like Rotterdam, it's disappointing to lose so early
World No. 5 Daniil Medvedev felt disappointed after losing early in Rotterdam as he loves the city and enjoys playing at the Dutch ATP 500 event.
Medvedev, seeded at No. 1, picked up a shock first round exit as world No. 104 Vasek Pospisil delivered a big performance to oust the Russian 6-4 6-3.
"I like Rotterdam, I like the tournament. It's really disappointing to finish the tournament so early. I had to be better to win... I didn't manage to do it but I have to look (forward) to the future, practice hard and try to be better next time," Medvedev said after losing to Pospisil.
Medvedev was beaten in the the Rotterdam quarterfinal in 2018 before he made the semifinal at the tournament last year.
The 24-year-old Russian has promised that he will return to Rotterdam next year and make his fourth consecutive appearance at the event.
"Usually I have a better tournament here in terms of result," Medvedev added. "So I will be coming back next year to have a better result and show some better play."
