Felix Auger-Aliassime: I expect to do my best in Acapulco
Rising Canadian star Felix Auger-Aliassime has arrived confident in Acapulco and he expects to have a great week.
Auger-Aliassime, seeded at No. 4, made a positive start to his Acapulco campaign on Tuesday.
The Canadian traveled all the way from France to Mexico but it didn't affect him as he saw off lucky loser Alex Bolt 6-3 7-6 (5).
World No. 19 Auger-Aliassime made finals in each of the last weeks but on both occasions failed to lift his maiden ATP title.
The 19-year-old was beaten in the Rotterdam final by Gael Monfils before he lost last week's Marseille final against Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Auger-Aliassime is now making his debut on the hard courts of Acapulco.
“I’m so happy to be here. Mexican fans are incredible and I expect to do my best this week," Auger-Aliassime said, via the tournament's Twitter account.
Former world No. 17 Auger-Aliassime plays next against Great Britain's Kyle Edmund.
2018 Australian Open semifinalist Edmund beat Spain's Feliciano Lopez in his Acapulco opener.
Auger-Aliassime and Edmund have no previous meetings.
