French Open wonder Amanda Anisimova uses a mind trick before every match

Even though she is only 18 years old, world number 29 Amanda Anisimova has what it takes to make it into the top 10 of the WTA Tour and she shows that almost every time she steps on the court. Talent, maturity and a popular pre-match habit make the American so successful.

During the newest Athlete’s Cookbook episode, Anisimova told comedian James Davis how her journey in the world of tennis had begun.

“I started when I was three so that’s really young. It’s always been my passion. I really never was interested in other sports.” Amanda said.

Since 2004, when Amanda made her first steps in the world of tennis, her skills grew at such a fast pace that, in just a few weeks before she celebrated her 18th birthday, she reached the French Open semifinals. As a result, Amanda rapidly climbed the rankings and she found herself being world number 21 by October 21st, 2019.

James Davis asked the young phenomenon of the WTA Tour how it feels to be successful at such a young age.

“It’s definitely really exciting. I’m really grateful that I get to play these tournaments at such a young age and experience all these amazing moments. It just motivates me more for every upcoming tournament.” said Anisimova.

Moreover, the ascending tennis star has unveiled a mind trick that she uses before every match and that helps to keep her emotions under control.

“I try to visualize everything, including the atmosphere and the crowd, because there are little moments that you might be affected by so, just try to picture how everything is going to turn out.” Anasimova confessed.

Anisimova’s next adventure will begin on 17 February at the Dubai Tennis Championships.
