Gael Monfils: I had 16 game plans against Novak Djokovic and they all failed
In-form Gael Monfils has admitted that he doesn't know what will be his game plan for his upcoming Novak Djokovic clash.
Monfils, seeded at No. 3, is set to take on No. 1 seed Novak Djokovic in the Dubai semifinal on Friday.
World No. 9 Monfils extended his winning streak to 12 matches after beating fellow compatriot Richard Gasquet 6-3 6-3 in the Dubai quarterfinal.
Monfils, who claimed back-to-back titles in Montpellier and Rotterdam, will have to do what he has never managed to do in the past in order to prolong his winning streak.
Monfils, 33, and 32-year-old Djokovic will be meeting for the 17th time in their respective careers when they meet in the Dubai semifinal.
Djokovic, a 17-time Grand Slam champion, owns an absolutely dominant head-to-head record against Monfils as he has never lost to the Frenchman.
"I don’t know what the plan against Djokovic will be. I had 16 plans already and they all failed," Monfils said of his game plan for the Djokovic clash, per Enrico Maria Riva.
