Pat Rafter Buys New Home at Tweed Heads West, NSW

Australia's tennis legend Pat Rafter has bought a new home at Tweed Heads West, NSW., according to The Daily Telegraph. 

Rafter bought the four-bedroom house for $540,000 at the end of last year and plans to let it out. This is not the first home that the tennis legend has purchased for investment. In 2018, he sold his Sunshine Coast mansion for $2.8million less than what he spent while developing the property.

According to the report, "the house includes an open-plan living area to entertain guests, with gaping windows giving the space an abundance of natural light. It also includes three good sized double bedrooms - with a potential fourth bedroom or nursery accessed via the master. The interiors are all decorated in light and airy beiges and browns, with high ceilings and hardwood floors also featured throughout the home. The house is just minutes away from the stunning beaches of Kirra, Coolangatta, Rainbow Bay and Duranbah, with a family park located just down the street."

The Rafters have been living in the Broken Head area of Byron Bay, where they bought a 38-hectare block of land in 2016 which was vacant and they competed construction of a new country style house last year.

Rafter became World No. 1 in July 1999 and won the US Open in 1997 and 1998. He was also the finalist at Wimbledon in 2000 and 2011 and won the 1999 Australian Open men's doubles tournament alongside Jonas Björkman, and winning two singles and two doubles ATP Masters titles. He is also the third player in the Open Era to reach semifinals or better of every Grand Slam tournament in both singles and doubles, after Rod Laver and Stefan Edberg.
