Rafael Nadal and Marc Lopez team up for doubles in Indian Wells
2016 Rio Olympic gold medal winners Rafael Nadal and Marc Lopez have taken a doubles wildcard into the Indian Wells Masters, via Michal Samulski.
Nadal, 33, and 37-year-old Lopez are set to play together in the desert for the first time since 2012.
Nadal and Lopez made four consecutive appearances in Indian Wells between 2009 and 2012.
The Spaniards have had success together in the desert, having won titles at the tournament in 2010 and 2012.
In the other two appearances, Nadal and Lopez picked up a round-of-16 exit in their debut at the tournament in 2009 and lost in the semifinal two years later.
Nadal and Lopez haven't played together since they teamed up to beat India's Saketh Myneni and Leander Paes in a Davis Cup tie in September 2016.
In their last tournament played, Nadal and Lopez were absolutely brilliant as they won it all at the 2016 Rio Olympics after beating Romania's Florin Mergea and Horia Tecau in the final.
Nadal and Lopez taking a wildcard into Indian Wells might be an indication that they are planning to defend their Olympic gold at the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.
