Roger Federer: "I was tired of sitting around listening"
Tennis fans will not be able to see Roger Federer's feats for about 4 months. An operation in sudden arthroscopy, of which nobody was aware. Not even his agent Godsick who a week ago declared: "he plans to play Roland Garros". The Swiss champion will have to skip Dubai where he won last year, Indian Wells where he reached the final, Miami where he won, Madrid where he made the quarterfinals, Rome where he came to the quarterfinals and Roland Garros where he reached the semifinals. 3180 points that will go away. He will return to the grass with just under 4000 points, so probably around the number 7 or 8.
The Olympic tournament will begin on July 25th. The last one for Federer. An important tournament where Roger will look for the gold medal he has never won. Let us remember that it was silver in London 2012. The summer will end with the Us Open, where in recent years he has never gone beyond the quarterfinals.
In an interview with L’Illustré magazine, the 20-time Grand Slam champion talked about being a student: “Average, I would say. But, frankly, I have always tried hard. Sometimes I was tired of sitting around listening. So the teacher had to use his best motivational tips to keep me up to date. To tell the truth, yes, even if I was happy to get out of it to go to tennis. But I was fortunate to always have good teachers.”
