Roger Federer: Playing in South Africa is going to be very special on so many levels

Switzerland's Roger Federer underlines he is extremely excited about The Match in Africa and finally playing in South Africa means a lot to him.

Federer, 38, is set to meet his old rival Rafael Nadal this Friday in Cape Town.

A large crowd is expected as the organizers aim to have around 50,000 in the attendance.

All the proceeds gathered from the match will be donated for the benefit of children in the region.

Federer was hampered by a groin issue in his Australian Open semifinal clash but hopes that won't limit him on Friday.

"You know how it is. Life on tour sometimes is what it is. I couldn't be more excited now that it's actually really happening. I hope I'm going to be really fine to play. I believe I am, but we'll see,” Federer said at Melbourne Park, per the AP and Yahoo Sports Australia.

Federer's mom was born in South Africa and the Swiss thanked Nadal for accepting his invitation to play a charity match there.

"Also, that Rafa is willing to do it is exciting, of course, to say the least. I know my parents are very happy, very proud, as well. I'm sure it's going to be very, very special for me on many levels to play there," Federer said.
