Simona Halep Joins Exclusive Top 10 List in This WTA Stat
Tennis - World No. 2 Simona Halep, of Romania, has entered the Top 10 list of players for most consecutive weeks ranked in the World's Top 10, according to the WTA Insider Twitter account.
This past Monday's rankings was the 317th consecutive week that Halep, who has won two Grand Slam titles in her career so far, has spent inside the World's Top 10. She entered the Top 10 for the first time on January 27, 2014 and has not left the Top 10 since.
The list is topped by 18-time Grand Slam champion Martina Navratilova, who was in the Top 10 for 1,000 consecutive weeks, followed by 22-time Grand Slam champion Steffi Graf at 625 weeks and 1990 US Open champion Gabriela Sabatini with 508 weeks.
Given her current ranking of No. 2, it is certain that Halep will overtake former Wimbledon champion Conchita Martinez, who is at No. 9 on the list with 319 weeks and former World No. 1 Lindsay Davenport, who is at No. 8 on the list with 333 weeks.
Among active players, the next active player for the number of consecutive weeks in the Top 10 is current World No. 3 Karolina Pliskova, from the Czech Republic, with 180 weeks.
