The Bryan Brothers Receive a Key to the City in Delray Beach
The Bryan Brothers have received a key to the city in Delray Beach in a special ceremony on Tuesday night at the ATP Delray Beach Open, as per the ATP Tour website. The Bryans have had great success in the past at this tournament, winning the doubles title on five occasions in Delray Beach, including last year.
During the ceremony, Bob Bryan commented, ”Thanks for this prestigious key. If there’s something missing from your house tonight, it’s probably [because of] this. This is a very special place to us. It’s our hometown tournament, a lot of special memories.”
The Bryans are the top seeds at this year's tournament and will play their first round match on Wednesday. They were scheduled to Nick Kyrgios/ Jordan Thompson but with Kyrgios' withdrawal from the tournament, they will now play an alternate team as per the latest draw updated on the tournament website. This will be their 13th appearance at the Delray Beach tournament.
The Bryans have said they will be retiring after the 2020 US Open. They are the most successful team in doubles history - having captured an Open Era record 118 trophies, including all the four Grand Slams, all nine ATP Masters 1000s, Nitto ATP Finals (four times) and an Olympic gold medal. They also own the all-time team record for most Grand Slam titles with 16 and most ATP Masters 1000 titles with 39.
