Week 7: Thiem in Rio, Medvedev in Marseille. Clijisters will come back to Dubai!
The seventh week of the new tennis season will see players engaged in four different tournaments, for seven days full of tennis and emotions.
Men will play the Rio Open (Brazil, ATP 500 played on clay-courts), the Open 13 (France, ATP 250 played on indoor hard-courts) and the Delray Beach Open (USA, ATP 250 played on hard-courts). In Rio de Janeiro Dominic Thiem will be seed no.1. Diego Schwartzman, Christian Garin, Guido Pella and Fernando Verdasco the other stars of the tournament.
Talking about stars: in Marseille there will be Stefanos Tsitsipas, Daniil Medvedev, Denis Shapovalov, Karen Khachanov, David Goffin, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Marin Cilic. in Delrey Beach there will be Nick Kyrgios, Milos Raonic, Frances Tiafoe, Tennys Sandgren, John Millman and Andreas Seppi.
Women will play one event: the Dubai Tennis Championships (UAE, WTA Premier played on hard-courts). in Dubai there will be Sofia Kenin, Simona Halep, Karolina Pliskova, Belinda Bencic, Kiki Bertens, Aryna Sabalenka, Johanna Konta, Dayana Yastremska, Marketa Vondrousova and Petra Martic. Wild-card for Elina Svitolina and for Kim Clijisters. The Hungarian Ladies Open was canceled due to miscommunication between organizers and WTA.
This week there will also be four ATP Challengers: the Faip – Perrel Trophy (Italy, played on indoor hard-court), the Challenger Banque Nationale de Drummondville (Canada, played on indoor hard-courts), the Koblenz Open (Germany, played on indoor hard-courts) and the Morelos Open (Mexico, played on hard-courts).
