Casey Dellacqua Takes part on Coaching Clinic with Top Juniors in Western Australia

Retired tennis professional Casey Dellacqua, of Australia, took part in a coaching clinic with some of Western Australia's top juniors, according to the Community News website.

Dellacqua delivered insights, strategies and tactics to 15 young players from the Tennis West Junior Girls State League competition during a doubles coaching clinic at the State Tennis Centre last week. The juniors are part of six teams that compete weekly in the Casey Dellacqua Cup, which is a tournament for the state’s top juniors.

Tennis West chief executive Michael Roberts commented, "The Casey Dellacqua Cup is a new initiative for the 2019-20 season and having Casey as the competition’s ambassador is an absolute privilege. She’s the perfect fit for our junior state league girls, having grown up playing in WA; she understands our training, development and competition landscape like no one else. The girls are incredibly fortunate to be given the opportunity to spend time on court with Casey and they’ll each take something different away from the experience.”

Dellacqua, who was named the competitions ambassador in 2019, commented, "I’m so excited and honoured to be named ambassador for the Casey Dellacqua Cup. I played in the State League competition every weekend throughout my junior career, and as I progressed into the senior ranks. It actually really developed me into being the player that I ended up being. It’s such a great concept and I’m so glad it is still thriving all these years later.”

Although she peaked at No. 26 in the singles rankings, Dellacqua's best results have come in doubles where she won seven WTA doubles titles, 23 ITF doubles titles, and one Grand Slam mixed doubles title at the 2011 French Open. She has also reached the finals of all four Grand Slam events in women's doubles, appearing in seven major finals from 2008 to 2017 and peaked at No. 3 in the doubles rankings.
