Elias Ymer on Davis Cup: This year we will really go to Madrid

The Swedish Davis Cup team takes on Chile this weekend with the winner of the tie advancing to the Davis Cup World Group Finals in November. The Ymer brothers will play an important role in Sweden's team.

Speaking to Tennis.se, the World no. 202 Elias Ymer says, "It's an important match! This year we will really go to Madrid. It had been a dream.  I was in Dubai for ten days and have been training for three weeks now and everything feels good. If I can play in the Davis Cup, it would have been a great start to the year.  It will be tough, they are good and they have a good staff with Nicolás Massú as coach and with Alejandro Tabilo who has played well lately."

His brother Mikael, ranked no. 67 in the world, says, "There were many good results It was not only a week that was good, but I have played well continuously. It is positive, but it is important to do it again. I am not someone who sets so much goal, but I would have been very happy if I had a year where I establish myself further and can keep my ranking. Once I get into it a bit more I want to take the next step. I like that the interest is there, hopefully many young people will come. I think this is where many can be inspired. In any case, it was so for me and my brother when we were younger. I remember we were watching the Davis Cup in Lidköping and Robin (Söderling) won and threw his rack in the crowd and I caught it.

Speaking about former World No. 4 Robin Soderling, who is the Swedish Davis Cup captain now, Ymer says, "Robin is one of our greatest players of all time and has very good things to come with. I think we all take the opportunity to learn as much as we can from him this week."
