Golfer Jason Day Advised to Take Inspiration from Roger Federer

Golfer Jason Day has been advised to take inspiration from tennis legend Roger Federer as the golfer continues to deal with his back injury. Day has been struggling with a back injury for a long time now and his chances of competing in this week's Players Championship appear to be remote.

US PGA Tour commentator Brandel Chamblee commented, "I don't know if the calamity is irreversible, but it might be. When I hear Jason Day talking about all the sacrifices he needed to make in the gym and practising, I never really heard about him paying proper attention to recovery. If you have a short, quick golf swing then you are going to have a short, quick career. Especially if you have a violent transition the way (Day) has had. He had a wonderful run in his 20s and a nice run through his early 30s. I can remember a point where he said he was trying to shorten his golf swing and I thought that is the exact opposite thing you needed to be doing. I think Jason Day could learn from Rory and (Roger) Federer and Brady."

Federer had struggled with a back injury for a while but has been focused on making sure he follows the correct recovery process and continues to play top level tennis at the age of 38. The Swiss legend only recently underwent another surgery - this time for his knee - and he has said he will be out until the grass court season begins in June. The surgery seems well timed in hindsight with the Indian Wells tournament being canceled and several other tennis tournaments in the coming weeks also likely to be called off due to the coronavirus pandemic.
