Julia Görges Splits with Coach Jens Gerlach

German tennis ace Julia Görges has split from her coach Jens Gerlach after only working together for a few months, according to Süddeutsche Zeitung.

Görges commented, "Jens and I decided to end our player-coaching relationship. After we have checked our partnership and personal circumstances, we think it best to go our separate ways. "

The pair had started working together only at the end of October; the 46-year-old had given up his position as captain of the Fed Cup team.

Previously, Görges had separated from Michael Geserer and Sebastian Sachs within a very short time and the same pattern seems to be following with Gerlach now.

Gerlach told the SZ, "Julia and I have worked very intensively on our own things over the past five months. For personal reasons, however, we have agreed that it is in everyone's best interest if I resign from my coaching role."

Görges is currently ranked No. 38 in the world rankings and has been ranked in the Top 10 in 2018, the same year she reached the Wimbledon semi-finals.

There is no word yet on who would replace Gerlacg. For the time being, she will be accompanied by fitness trainers Scott Byrnes and Physio Jörg Fauland to the upcoming tournaments.
