Rafael Nadal to face Taylor Fritz in the Eisenhower Cup. Tsitsipas vs. Berrettini
The second annual Eisenhower Cup presented by Masimo is a one-night Tie Break Tens event scheduled for Tuesday, March 10, three days before the start of the first Masters 1000 tournament of the season in Indian Wells. As in 2019, the 19-time Major champion Rafael Nadal leads a packed field in Stadium 2 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, joined by the defending Indian Wells champion Dominic Thiem, the US Open finalist Daniil Medvedev and world no. 8 Matteo Berrettini. The three-time Major champion Stan Wawrinka returns to action at this event, together with the last year's winner Milos Raonic and Acapulco finalist Taylor Fritz. Another top-10 star Stefanos Tsitsipas is confirmed as well, completing a stellar field that will fight for the title and enjoy a great evening at one of the most advanced tennis facilities in the world.
Tie Break Tens format consists of first to ten-point tie break encounters and the rules have been changed in comparison to 2019, with seven elimination clashes en route to the title. The Eisenhower Cup presented by Masimo will begin at 8:00 p.m., with all the tickets selling for $25. All the earnings from the event will benefit local charities, including Masimo's Patient Safety Movement, Eisenhower Health, Bighorn Golf Club Charities and Family YMCA of the Desert. The quarter-final draw is out and the crowd will have the opportunity to watch some thrilling matches right from the start, with Rafael Nadal facing Taylor Fritz in a re-run of their Acapulco final from Saturday. Matteo Berrettini should make a return in Indian Wells, sidelined with an injury since the Australian Open, with Stefanos Tsitsipas as his first rival if the Greek recovers from the Davis Cup tie against the Philippines. Daniil Medvedev and Stan Wawrinka will fight for the place in the semis, with Milos Raonic and Dominic Thiem completing the quarter-final draw in what should be another exciting match.
