Roger Federer,Rafael Nadal,Djokovic: Ferrero Predicts Who Will End Up with Most Slams

Former World No. 1 Juan Carlos Ferrero says that Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal will end up with more Grand Slams than Roger Federer but adds that the Serb will end up with most Slams mainly due to his age and the surfaces on which the Slams are played.

In an interview to Tennishead, Ferrero says, "I truly think both have the possibility to reach it. But because of his age and the Grand Slam surfaces, I think Novak will win the most. I see the younger players becoming more and more capable and their level is getting closer to the Big 3, but Federer, Nadal and Djokovic will keep making great news for a few years more."

Ferrero is also of the view that Austrian Dominic Thiem and Greece's Stefanos Tsitsipas are most likely to emerge from the new generation of players to win a major title. "In the last year, from the Top 10, just Dominic Thiem and Stefanos Tsitsipas have been able to beat any of the big three in Grand Slams so I would say either of those two. Dominic´s level at the most recent Australian Open was amazing. He was really close to winning it."

Ferrero has his own academy now in Aliacante, Spain and one of his students there, Carlos Alcaraz, has been making waves on the ATP Tour in recent weeks. The former Grand Slam champion says that Alcaraz can be one of the very best in the future. "Our main goals at our Academy are to keep growing and improving the player. He´s too young to focus on specific ranking goals, although they´re important of course. We hope he’ll be close to ATP top 100 by the end of the 2020 season. If he keeps working as he is, he will reach it. He´s young yet but we´re working for him to be able to compete for everything in the future. He can be one of the best. I see him in a few years at the very top."
