Ivo Karlovic shares key to longevity:'I hit gym at night, sleep five hours'
Ivo Karlovic defeated Feliciano Lopez to reach the French Open second round. The Croatian player spoke about his longevity revealing some interesting thing. Karlovic said he sleeps five hours a night and he hits the gym at 11:00 PM. The 39-year-old described how his day starts in the morning: "After I drive my daughter to school I would go and hit and after I was home resting. In the evening when they go to bed, which is almost at around 11, then I would go to the gym. In the night. I'm happy because there is a gym open in the night."
Karlovic believes that winning an ATP career-title and reaching the Grand Slam fourth round can be within his possibilities: "I would like to do that. That's what I always try to do but I know that it isn't easy, it's really difficult. Everybody's strong and good, but you know, who knows. I think I train hard and I have the experience, the edge, so who knows."
"It means a lot... It's in the record books as the oldest ever one. I was out for the last almost two months so I was really happy that I was able to win. I don't know (if I'll feel sore tomorrow), we'll see. I'll just hit it light and then we'll see if I have to do (an) extra ice bath or extra activities."
Sergio Garcia will play the Canada Open of the PGA Tour next week prior to the USA Open in Pebble Beach (California), with an "unusual" caddy. Not his brother Victor, but his great friend Mardy Fish, a former American player and current Davis Cup team captain, as reported by tengolf.es. The tournament will take place in the Hamilton Golf & Country Club in Ancaster, Ontario. It will be the Spaniard's fourth appearance in the Canada Open. In 2018 he came back after a 17-year absence. He played in 2000 and 2001 where he respectively ended fourth and fifth, while last year he had two comebacks of 67 and 74 shots. Fish succeeded Jim Courier on the Davis Cup bench in January earlier this year. As a tennis player, he won six ATP career-titles and he won the bronze medal in the 2004 Olympic Games, in Athens, after losing to the Chilean Nicolas Massu in the final. Fish retired from tennis in the 2015 US Open. The Canadian Open is one of the most ancient tournaments in the world. The first edition took place in 1904. A Spaniard never won it.
