Tennis Lives On: see fans picking up racquets and start hitting in their own houses

After we saw two men hitting the ball from the windows of a tall apartment building, more fans followed their example and picked up their racquets to prove that the isolation measures taken to combat the coronavirus spread will not stop them from playing tennis.

Two tennis enthusiasts got things to the next level, even if they didn’t use proper equipment. They used their kitchen table as a court, pans instead of racquets, a row of pasta packages instead of a net and toilet paper instead of a Rolex-sponsored scoreboard.

One of the funniest reacts to the video referred to their choice of using toilet paper to keep the score. “Who said there is a toilet paper crisis in the supermarkets !?” said Gaizka Mendieta, a former professional football player who played for Middlesbrough, Barcelona and Spain’s national team.

Another inspiring example is professional tennis player Alexandre Muller who exchanged quite a few balls with his partner in a living room, even if the risk of hitting the TV was pretty big. The 23 years old French player is currently ranked on 245th place in the ATP rankings.

And if that didn’t make you search for your racquet and a couple of balls, then Galo Blanco, Davis Cup’s Chief Competition Officer, may just be the trigger. Blanco did 20 touches with a roll of toilet paper using the side of his tennis racquet. Moreover, he challenged Andrey Rublev and everybody who thinks they can do the #20touchchallenge to post their own videos.
