Diego Schwartzman doubts season will resume
Argentine tennis star Diego Schwartzman doubts the season will resume as he thinks it will be extremely difficult for tennis to get back before 2021.
The ATP initially suspended the Tour for six weeks on March 12 but since then the suspension was extended twice and now there won't be any events taking place until at least July 13.
Unfortunately, there isn't too much optimism right now that the season will indeed resume once the current suspension expires.
Per Marca, the ATP is now contemplating of further extending the suspension until at least August 3.
"There is very little information on when the circuit is going to resume. At first the communication was very bad by the ATP about the cancellations, I think it also caught them off guard. I see it very difficult to play this year," Schwartzman told EFE.
Schwartzman, ranked at No. 13 in the world, says he will never be able to pay back his parents, who gave their best to help him succeed in tennis.
The 27-year-old Argentine is a three-time ATP champion and former world No. 11.
"I will never be able to give back to my family what they gave to me when I was starting," Schwartzman claimed.
