Andy Murray to make his return at Schroders Battle of the Brits

Former doubles world No. 1 Jamie Murray has confirmed that his brother Andy Murray plans to make his return to competitive action at the Schroders Battle of the Brits. 

The season has been suspended since March 12 due to the coronavirus pandemic and there won't be any Tour events taking place until at least early-August. 

Jamie Murray, a seven-time Grand Slam doubles champion, introduced his plans to stage an exhibition event around the time of Wimbledon over a month ago. 

Three-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray, who hasn't played since last year's Davis Cup Finals due to a pelvic injury, targeted to potentially make his return at the Miami Masters but then the season got suspended. 

Former world No. 1 Andy Murray will headline the player field of the Schroders Battle of the Brits, which will take place from June 23-28 in Roehampton. 

Andy Murray won't be the lone star at the event 

More star names will appear at the Schroders Battle of the Brits as two top-ranked British male players hasve signed up to play -- Dan Evans and Kyle Edmund. 

Top British players will have a chance to get some nice action next month as the LTA has announced plans to stage four domestic events in as many weeks. 

Jamie Murray confirms his closed-doors event, Schroders Battle of the Brits, will take place on June 23-28 at the National Tennis Centre, Roehampton. Andy Murray, Dan Evans and Kyle Edmund part of the field. Will be broadcast live on Amazon Prime in the UK.

"Since the coronavirus crisis, we have been working incredibly hard to support all our players, venues, coaches and officials through this very challenging time," LTA Chief Executive Scott Lloyd said.

"I'm delighted to announce today the next stage of elite tennis' return to competing safely behind closed doors as part of a five-phase plan coordinated by UK Sport with Government.

"The LTA is actively engaged in developing the necessary guidelines for behind closed doors events, which we hope will be determined by the Government in the coming weeks to ensure the safest environment for anyone involved in returning to competition and look forward to bringing tennis back into people's lives this summer."

It remains to be seen at how many domestic events will former world No. 1 Andy Murray participate.
