Matteo Berrettini on his ankles and Ajla Tomljanovic's parents
Italy's Top 10 star Matteo Berrettini says that he is recovering from his ankle injury, which forced him to pull out of the West Palm Beach exhibition and says that he continues to work on making them stronger.
In an interview for La Repubblica, Berrettini says, “I have finally established a healthy relationship with my weakness: the ankles. I will have to live with the fragile side of my nature. And take care of it, because without your ankles, or with badly treated ankles, you won't go anywhere ”.
The Italian says he plans to return home to Italy in three weeks, but will wait to see how the situation unfolds.
Berrettini is currently in Boca Raton with girlfriend, Ajla Tomljanovic, who plays on the WTA Tour and says he is also getting along with her parents.
"They are kind, welcoming, they always make me feel at home , that is, one of them; I'm learning about the style, culture and ways, even physical, of a group with habits different from mine and probably from any Italian family. It is nice to be faced with new attitudes to adapt to. For example the touch: they are Croatians, they tend not to touch each other, they are less melodramatic than us, vaguely more detached, less kisses and hugs. But eventually even they pamper the family. Maybe here I found out that I'm better as a son-in-law than as a boyfriend! After all, a little tension, within a couple, can be there. But no, come on, I'm also fine as a boyfriend!"
