Moya on Rafael Nadal: If we were to go into battle, I would put my life in his hands

Former World No. 1 Carlos Moya spoke about the reason for the success of 19 time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal and their relationship on the Subidos A La Red podcast.

Moya, who is part of the coaching team for Nadal currently, says, "The big players win a tournament and after a while they already think about participating and wanting to win the next one, that's what separates them from the rest,."

“When you work closely with them, you admire even more what they do. It is impossible to criticize Rafa for everything he has accomplished and his attitude. When he plays, I know he gives everything. Sometimes I even have to stop it."

"If the court remains empty after training, Rafa will not stop and will continue his work. Even if he now understands better when he has to stop the session. When you work with Rafa, you can see how demanding and demanding he is.

It is a pleasure to be with him. If we were to go into battle, I would put my life in his hands."

Moya says Nadal is also very open to changes after he joined the Spaniard's team. “He is very open. I joined his team after two more complicated seasons in 2015 and 2016 and he was not disturbed by the changes I wanted to make."

"We worked together to further improve it. I knew Rafa could sweat a lot and work. I have known him since he was eleven. When he ends his career, it will be difficult for me to find the same feeling with another player. ”

Finally, speaking about the shutdown and its impact on the Big Three, the former French Open champion says, “It's difficult to say. Novak Djokovic was on a good streak and seemed in great shape. For Nadal, the clay court season was about to start. And we know he loves that . And Federer, he finally chose the right time for his knee operation."
