Novak Djokovic: I would like to send a big hug to people in Brazil
World No. 1 Novak Djokovic, of Serbia, says he was very happy to be able to support Brazilian tennis superstar Gustavo Kuerten in his 'Winning Together' campaign to raise funds for those affected by the current pandemic in Brazil. Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer was also invited to be part of the campaign by Kuerten. The project's goal was to raise donations for up to 35,000 families in the country at risk due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

During the interview, Djokovic commented, "I would like to send a big hug to people in Brazil, and a lot of love and positive energies, because you need to be united and be strong. We have to keep positive thinking and seek inspiration in the good things in life to overcome this situation even more. I am here for everything you need in Brazil." Djokovic also recalled his exhibition match he played against Kuerten in Rio de Janeiro in 2012. "I remember our game at Maracanãzinho and the three days we spent in Rio. It was three of the best days of my life, because I was received as if I were a Brazilian too. And this is something that I will always carry in my heart."
Novak Djokovic has been supporting various causes during the current pandemic through his own foundation - The Novak Djokovic Foundation. Besides donating funds and medical equipment in Serbia, he has also been active in helping the lower ranked players with a relief fund during the current crisis. Novak Djokovic is a 17-time Grand Slam champion and won the Australian Open in January. He is three slam titles behind Roger Federer, who leads the all-time list with 20 Grand Slam singles titles.
