Dominic Thiem:The greatest luxury are those that money can't buy, like family, health

World No. 3 Dominic Thiem says that his move to the new training centre in Austria, which his father has helped set up, does not mean that he would not represent his country in the Davis Cup competition.

The World No. 3 Dominic Thiem was being interviewed on the ORF program "Sport am Sonntag" where he said he hoped the Davis Cup tournament would take place in Madrid at the end of the season. "If I want to play Davis Cup, I will play. I always loved playing Davis Cup. I love spending the week with the team. I hope the final tournament will be in Madrid."

Speaking about his training program and getting back to exhibition events, Thiem says, "I did a lot of strength training. There are a lot of things that I can try, a lot of things on site too. I have a long time now to fix (some things). It was also important that I set myself the goal. If everything goes smoothly, I will play in Belgrade on June 13/14, then in France, Berlin and Kitzbuhel. It's good that normal life is starting slowly."   The Austrian, who says he tries to be a good role model, has been working on some environmental causes - like supporting a WWF project to equip young sea eagles with transmitters and reducing plastic in the oceans. That's one of the reasons he chose Leonardo di Caprio, who has worked for animal welfare and climate protection, as the person he wants to have dinner with when asked about the same on the show. Besides his goals of winning a Grand Slam, Thiem also spoke about his goals off the court. "At some point I would like to have a nice house with a family, that would be the greatest luxury. The greatest luxury things are anyway those that money cannot buy, like family, health. A hiking holiday in Austria would (also) be a dream for me."

26 year old Dominic Thiem reached the finals of the 2018 and 2019 French Open, losing to Rafael Nadal both times, and the 2020 Australian Open, where he lost to Novak Djokovic in a five-set thriller. He has won 16 ATP Tour singles titles so far.
