Goran Ivanisevic excited about bringing Novak Djokovic to Croatia

Croatian tennis legend Goran Ivanisevic is looking forward to welcoming world No. 1 Novak Djokovic to his homeland.

Djokovic, a 17-time Grand Slam champion, recently launched the Adria Tour -- an event that will take place across four Balkan countries from June 13 - July 5.

One of the stops will be Zadar, where some of the biggest names of the game will compete on June 21 and 22.

The Adria Tour will also make a stop in Serbia, Bosnia and Montenegro.

"The tournament will be played on clay, we were ready for hard, but Novak's team still decided for clay. We are waiting for the final confirmation of the number of fans that will be allowed to us. It will be a stadium for nine thousand people that will be installed this week, and I hope that it will allow us half of that capacity for the audience to see these best players in the world!" Ivanisevic said, per HRS. "This is a great opportunity to show Zadar and Croatia in a beautiful light, as a corona free country and invite tourists. Zadar proved to be not only a basketball city but also a tennis city with those two Davis Cup matches that it organized incredibly. I have no doubt that this organization will go well and that all our guests and tennis players who come from outside will be extremely satisfied."

Goran Ivanisevic reveals Djokovic's goal was to organize an event like this

Two top-ranked Croatian tennis players Marin Cilic and Borna Coric will also appear on the Adria Tour when it makes a stop in Zadar.

"Novak already had the idea to organize a tour or a couple of exhibition matches in Belgrade, Sarajevo, Croatia... It’s hard to organize, especially with the traditional schedule of tennis players. This coronavirus, no matter how much evil and misfortune it brought, made the Adria Tour possible," Ivanisevic revealed. "Novak asked me how Croatia could get involved, I checked with the Croatian Tennis Association and with their help we chose Zadar. Novak's wish has come true and with this team coming, I can say that this will be a tennis spectacle in the Balkans!"

Goran Ivanisevic, a former Wimbledon champion, is now a member of Djokovic's coaching staff.
