Jupiter Island - golf's fantasy hideaway

The tax-haven Jupiter Island in Florida is a place where golfing greats, both past and present, own spectacular luxury mansions. Not only is the island breathtakingly beautiful, but it also offers respite against the rest of the world, demanding the utmost privacy.

Great names like Gary Player, Tiger Woods, Nick Price, Greg Norman, Brooks Koepka, Rickie Fowler and Rory McIlroy and some 900 of the wealthiest people in America all call this illustrious picturesque barrier island home. Even Phil Mickelson is currently building his dream home there – according to those in the know, quite close to Tiger’s humble abode.

Tiger lives in a sprawling $54 million mansion that was built in 2010 after his divorce from Elin Nordegren. The house is just around the corner from his restaurant, called ‘The Woods’. The likes of Rickie Fowler, Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas have all enjoyed the “legendary sports bar experience” offered there.

Tiger’s humble abode has a 100ft swimming pool, a tennis court, outdoor basketball area and, of course, four holes. The house is split into two sections – one for living quarters and the other as a multi-purpose building. He also has a gym, wine cellar, games room, private cinema and an oxygen therapy room.

Everyone who is anyone seems to be spending time in Jupiter

Golfing great and three-time Masters champion Gary Player bought a vintage-looking Bermudan style eight-bedroom, six-bathroom home on the island in 2004. The property has its own Cabana House with pergolas, columned porticos and a three-car garage. A sandy beach is steps away from the beautiful mansion.

Rory McIlroy joined the golfing elite on Jupiter island in 2017, buying Ernie Els’ former home for a cool $11 million. It's part of the exclusive Bear's Club, a golf development which was founded by Jack Nicklaus in 1999 and is 85 miles north of Miami. Rory’s house has seven bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, games room, home cinema and a recording studio. The property also has a tennis court, enormous pool and extensive gym.

Former world Number 1, Brooks Koepka, got himself a bargain $3,3 million four-bed, five-and-a-half bath property on Jupiter. He spent around $33 million renovating it though. During the renovations, Koepka replaced the swimming pool with a bigger one with an outside tiki hut bar. He also rebuilt the boat dock and installed a new fence for better privacy. Nestled along the Treasure Coast's southernmost barrier Jupiter island seems like a living dream.
