Marko Kovacevic, the project manager from the Foundation stated that the aim of this project was enable more children in this local community to have access to preschool education. " “As many as 657 children who live in the territory of Trstenik Municipality unfortunately do not have the possibility to go to kindergarten, and that is why this local community has a major need for expanding the capacities of the preschool institution.. the reconstruction of this kindergarten will allow 75 children to stay and grow up with the best conditions. So far, Novak Djokovic Foundation reconstructed or constructed 45 kindergartens, helping more than 22,000 children in Serbia, while also organizing training for close to 1,600 teachers in Serbia. Our goal is to provide ideal conditions for children’s growth and development, primarily to ensure that they have a stimulating environment to learn in."
Trstenik Municipality President Aleksandar Ciric said he was grateful to the Djokovic family & foundation for their contribution. “With the construction of this building, the conditions for quality early development and growth of children have been improved, and this is a contribution towards accomplishing our goal to create equal conditions for the children to grow up and learn in the entire territory of Trstenik Municipality, particularly in areas which have demographic problems. We want to express our gratitude and pride, for everything that Novak and Jelena Djokovic and the Foundation did for our country, and for what they will do for the Trstenik Municipality in the coming period, and this will serve as additional motivation to us to continue investing into creating better conditions for the youngest generations."
