Roger Federer's special place

All we have special places and special relationships with other people, and also Roger Federer is a person who has special places in which he hes special relationships with his fans. The former world number 1 has undergone two surgeries on his right knee to resolve an injury, deciding not to force his recovery time and to close his season early.

The Swiss champion only played in the Australian Open in 2020, in addition to the historic performance with Rafael Nadal in South Africa which set the new spectator record for a tennis match. 

The rehabilitation of the 20-time Grand Slam champion is progressing well, so Roger should return to the field at the 2021 Australian Open without further hitches. During his long career, the 39-year-old from Basel has visited many places, establishing a quite special bond with some of them.

Answering to a question and answer session in recent days, Roger Federer admitted that traveling to China for the Asian Swing has always been one of his favorite moments.

Federer: "The fans have incredible energy"

"I have an extraordinary relationship with all the tennis fans in China, I really feel my popularity there. I always like to go back. Unfortunately, I was unable to go this year for two reasons: COVID-19 and my knee," said the eight-time Wimbledon champion.

China brings to Roger wonderful memories: "Going back in time, in 2002 I qualified for the Masters which took place at the Shanghai Expo Center. Then I came back for the inauguration of the Qizhong Stadium in 2004 I think. I won Olympic gold in doubles in Beijing 2008, not forgetting the successes at the Rolex Shanghai Masters and in the editions of the Masters that were held in Shanghai.

Last year I did some performances in Hangzhou and it was a lot of fun. I've always enjoyed coming back and I think the fans are incredibly passionate. They have a crazy energy that makes me want to come back other times. One of my goals for next year is to return to China," concluded Federer.

The Swiss Maestro we should come back for the upcoming Australian Open 2021, after almost a year without seeing him on a tennis court.
