2020 memories: Naomi Osaka won the US Open

In one of the most incredible, particular and dramatic seasons ever, the great tennis stars like Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams still managed to shine, for one reason or another.

The first tournament in which Naomi Osaka takes part after the resumption of the competitions stopped by the pandemic is the Western & Southern Open: after giving up a possible withdrawal in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement, in the final she would have had to face Viktoria Azaranka, but Japanese retires due to injury.

She then participated in the US Open 2020, where she defeated Misaki Doi, Camila Giorgi, Marta Kostjuk, Anett Kontaveit and Shelby Rogers. In the semifinals she met the surprise of the Jennifer Brady tournament by winning 7-61 3-6 6-3. In the final she faced Viktoria Azaranka, against whom she won a comeback 1-6 6-3 6-3, winning her second US Open and her third career Grand Slam in as many finals played. Thanks to the excellent results obtained, at the end of the tournament, she come back world no.3 of the WTA ranking.
