Pouille reacts to Grosjean's miraculous escape out of flaming Haas car crash

ATP’s world number 70 Lucas Pouille stepped forward on his social media channel after he saw F1 driver Romain Grosjean crashing his Haas car and, soon afterward, jumping out of the flames during the first lap of the Bahrain Grand Prix.

Grosjean luckily ended up only with a few minor burns on his hands, but no fractures. According to the latest updates, he is expected to be let out of the hospital in Manama around Tuesday.

“After this accident, we realize the risks that these drivers take, but also the evolution of the safety precautions in F1”, Pouille tweeted.

Soon after the above message, the tennis player also shared a video showing his compatriot announcing the latest news about his health status.

“Hello, everyone! Just wanted to say I’m okay… well, sort of okay (moving bandaged hands). Thank you for all the messages,” started Grosjean. "I wasn't for the Halo (editor’s note: the head protection device adopted in 2018 by F1) some years ago but I think it's the greatest thing we brought for Formula 1, and without it, I wouldn't be able to speak to you today.”

Last but not the least, the lucky racing driver wanted to thank each of the medical corps that helped him after the accident, in a day that could have been ended up really bad for him.

“Thanks to all the medical staff at the circuit and at the hospital and hopefully I can write to you quite soon some messages and tell you how it's going”, said Grosjean.

Haas boss about Grosjean: “He was very happy”

The boss of the team whose driver suffered the accident, Guenther Steiner, has shared his thoughts in an interview to Sky F1: “I just spoke with him on the phone, he’s in a clear state of mind, he is good.  They are still staying at the hospital overnight, they want to keep him there, but he told me that he feels good, nothing is broken. He's got his hand bandaged from the burns, he was very happy” said Steiner.

Romain Grosjean will be replaced in the Bahrain GP by Pietro Fittipaldi.
