Rafael Nadal: "I loved Bjorn Borg and Ronaldo. Ronaldo I mean ..."

Rafael Nadal, with Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Serena Williams, Naomi Osaka, Ashleigh Barty, Simona Halep and all the others greatests tennis stars on the planet will come back for the upcoming Australian Open 2021, which will be held in Melbounre from 8 February: it will be the most awaited sports event of the first part of the new season. It will be a very spectacualr season, and all of us hope without the problems of the last one, with some presence of the crowd in the courts across the world.

Rafael Nadal's 2020 was a rather strange and particular year. The Spanish champion ended the season at number two in the world, missed some tournaments due to a precise choice due to the pandemic and won only one tournament in the whole season.

Technically there would be nothing to exalt, but once again Rafa has conquered Roland Garros, thus winning the Parisian tournament for the thirteenth time in his career and reaching Roger Federer with 20 Grand Slam titles.

During an interview with the microphones of Celebrity magazine, Rafael Nadal talked about himself and analyzed all the changes that have taken place in the world of tennis after the arrival of the Coronavirus.

The Spaniard began by talking about what this particular season brought: "The only positive thing about the Lockdown was that it stopped the cases of contagion. But I don't think the stop itself has helped anyone, especially in the tennis world. In the end we were able to work correctly, with a clear goal, avoiding injuries and adapting to needs. In my case above all, when the body has to stop for a long time it is definitely hard, I had to do a lot of training to recover not only my physical condition but also my way of playing."

As for tennis, Rafa has no doubts: "I would have loved to face Bjorn Borg. I always had the feeling that he was unbeatable, he was a tennis titan. Obviously we are talking about a totally different historical period, but I would have liked to play him."

Rafa also talked about his sports idols in soccer. Here are his words about it: "Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo? It's a really difficult question, but for what I've seen I say Ronaldo. I'm not saying Cristiano, he's talking about Ronaldo the Phenomenon, the Brazilian. Cristiano and Messi are the best nowadays, but for me the best of all is Brazilian Ronaldo Luiz Nazario da Lima. I met him when my uncle was playing for Barcelona and I can say he was fantastic, he is a wonderful guy."
