'Federer, Nadal, Djokovic have a high level of confidence because...', says ATP star

Great rivalries have always fueled fans' passion for tennis. In recent years, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal have given birth to some of the most exciting challenges in history. Suffice it to say that the three, despite the many seasons spent at the top, are still the best players of the ATP Tour. Moreover, the fight for the Grand Slam primacy becomes more exciting year after year. The Swiss and the Spaniard have won 20 Grand Slam tournaments each; the Serbian is instead stopped at 17. Tennis TV made an interesting reportage in which it asked each player to identify their biggest rival. “I have to say Roger Federer,” Nadal began. “When I started playing in the major circuit, he was there: he was already the best. We have walked the same path together all these years”. Djokovic was clear and answered without thinking for a second: "Rafael Nadal". Dominic Thiem, who won his first major at the US Open in 2020, made two names instead. “I would say Rafa and Sascha (Alexander Zverev, ed). With them I played the hardest and most exciting games of my career. Really long games, finals in Grand Slam tournaments and Masters 1000 ”. Of the same opinion is Alexander Zverev. “Without a doubt Thiem. Against him I have played the most important matches so far, whether they are Grand Slam finals or finals of a Masters 1000 event. I believe that in the future we will continue to have these kinds of challenges." According to Gilles Simon, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic can find their A-game in the crucial moments with greater frequency than their peers. That, the Frenchman believes, comes from their immense self-belief and understanding of their game.

Simon on Federer, Nadal and Djokovic

Gilles Simon claimed that Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic have unparalleled confidence levels, arising out of their continuous success on tour. But Simon also pointed out that at the end of the day, the Big 3 are simply better players than the rest of the field. "First I think that they naturally have a high level of confidence because they win all the time," added Simon. "When you played youth competitions you increased your level by winning three or four matches in a row. Tour's life is so different. Second, they are overall stronger (at tennis)." Of both the big tournaments in Melbourne, the ATP Cup 2021 and Australian Open 2021, Djokovic is the defending champion. Also, Nadal and Thiem are its defending finalists, respectively.
