Rafael Nadal: 'The situation is really tough today'

As every year, the famous French newspaper L'Equipe awarded the best sports athletes of the season and also in 2020, despite a particular year marked by the Pandemic, the award ceremony was carried out. According to the French newspaper, the male sportsman of the year is Mercedes Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton, who this season won his seventh world championship, set further records by dominating from start to finish and finally reached a level of world titles won by the German legend Michael Schumacher. In second place, however, is tennis with the Spanish champion Rafael Nadal who in 2020 won only one tournament but of great magnitude, triumphing at Roland Garros with his thirteenth title in Paris and thus reaching Roger Federer in the history of tennis. The two, now, with twenty Grand Slam titles, are the players who have won more Grand Slam titles in history before world number one Novak Djokovic. A second place certainly of prestige for Rafael Nadal who got ahead of none other than the NBA star, considered one of the strongest basketball players in history, LeBron James. These, in this unfortunate year, with the Pandemic that has totally revolutionized the NBA season and that forced us to postpone and then conclude the season in a particular way. In an iconic year for the Los Angeles Lakers, following the death of a legend like Kobe Bryant, LeBron kept a promise made earlier this year and brought the NBA title back to LA.
