'Training with Rafael Nadal in Australia will make...', says former Top 10

Yet another record of Rafael Nadal certified by the ATP ranking published on Monday. Another record arrives, yet another, in Rafael Nadal’s exceptional career. The Majorcan has crossed the incredible milestone of week 800 in which he is one of the top ten players in the world hierarchy. This was certified by the ATP ranking published on Monday. Nadal entered the top ten on April 25, at the age of 18, just before clinching the first of his 13 Roland-Garros. Rafa currently occupies the second position behind the leader, the Serbian Novak Djokovic, and ahead of Dominic Thiem. Former World No. 7 Corrado Barazzutti recently claimed that his compatriot Jannik Sinner stands to benefit a great deal from his training block alongside Rafael Nadal ahead of the Australian Open.

Barazzutti on Sinner's training with Rafael Nadal

“Jannik Sinner will have the opportunity to train with Rafael Nadal in Australia and this experience will make him grow,” Corrado Barazzutti said. Barazzutti believes that the onus is now on Sinner to fulfill the expectations resting on his shoulders. According to the 67-year-old, Jannik Sinner and Matteo Berrettini are two Italian players who have Slam-winning potential. “He will have to deal with the pressure,” Barazzutti added. “Everyone expects great results soon and will have ups and downs. I think that Matteo and Jannik can win a Grand Slam title in the future. Berrettini has already played a Grand Slam semifinal at the US Open. Sinner reached the quarter-final at Roland Garros." We now live in unpredictable times because of the coronavirus pandemic and this has affected the Australian Open 2021. Several high-profile players like Roger Federer and Andy Murray have withdrawn from this year’s Grand Slam at Melbourne. The most shocking absentee from the Aus Open 2021 will be Roger Federer. Fans were eagerly awaiting for Federer’s return to the ATP circuit and the Australian Open was set to be his grand comeback. But delay in his recovery process has forced the 20-time Grand Slam champion to withdraw from the event. After having his two knee surgeries in early 2020, Federer missed the majority of the 2020 season. In mid-January, Andy Murray announced that he had contracted the coronavirus. Players had to leave for Melbourne on Jan 15th and 16th. They had to serve their mandatory 14-day quarantine. Murray’s late positive test messed up the timeline for his quarantine, so he won’t be able to play in Melbourne this year. John Isner is fully fit but decided not to travel to Melbourne. The strict quarantine protocol meant that he will have to stay away from his family for an extended period. Isner has two toddlers and doesn’t want to stay away from them for a long time.
