Tyrrell Hatton: "Abu Dhabi, huge honour"
Tyrrell Hatton won The Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. The english golfer in the United Arab Emirates celebrated his sixth victory on the European Tour of golf, the fourth in a Rolex Series event (equaled the primacy of Jon Rahm).
Nothing to do for Rory McIlroy who after four second places also gets fourth third place in the review, a real taboo for him. The Northern Irishman, on the third step of the podium (with 275, -13), was unable to defend the leadership regained on the "moving day" and was also overtaken by the Australian (but born in South Africa) Jason Scrivener, second with 274 ( -14). Nothing to do even for Tommy Fleetwood (winner of the tournament in 2017 and 2018), only 7 / o (278, -10). While Nino Bertasio, the only italian to have passed the cut, closed in 35 / o (284, -4) place.
Tyrrell Hatton, statements"It's surreal to be honest. Even knocking the putt in on 18 doesn't seem like I've won the tournament but it's amazing. I've always loved starting my season here in Abu Dhabi and to now add my name on that trophy with so many great champions before me is a huge honour. It's massive, Ryder Cup points have started again and that's a huge goal for me this year, to make that team, so I'm absolutely delighted that I've managed to pick up a load of points this week. I'll enjoy tonight but then my attention will turn to next week. Starting the day one back behind Rory, always know it's going to be a tough day - if Rory plays as good as he can, he's basically the best in the world. It was always going to be really tough to get past him. All the guys that have Tour cards are amazing golfers, no matter what your World Ranking is, and when it's your day, it's your day. You can't think that you're better than anyone else. Everyone's equal. Everyone's an amazing player and you just give it your best when you're out there", Tyrrell Hatton said.
