Boris Becker: "Nick Kyrgios can win Wimbledon"

According to three-time Wimbledon champion Boris Becker, the Australian player Nick Kyrgios has a very good chance of doing well in the most prestigious Grand Slam in the world.

Former German player said to EssentiallySports: "Nick Kyrgios and I have had our differences, but I have to admit that I was impressed with his attitude on the pitch. at the Australian Open, his five-set match with Thiem was among the best of two weeks.

I always thought that with his enormous talent he should win at least once in Wimbledon. With that powerful serve and quick play he could do anything. Whatever he does, it will depend entirely on one person, Nick himself."

Today at number 48 in the ATP world rankings, Kyrgios was also 13th in October 2016. In 2014, at the age of 19 years-old, he reached the quarter-finals at Wimbledon by defeating, as a wild card, Spanish champion Rafael Nadal in the fourth round.

Can Nick Kyrgios win Wimbledon?

The Australian has won six career trophies, including the ATP 500s in Tokyo, Acapulco and Washington. The last edition of the Australian Open was once again won by Novak Djokovic, who won over Daniil Medvedev.

Nole is now at 18 Grand Slam, which means that he only needs two more triumphs to get even with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. In the women's field, the Japanese Naomi Osaka returned to success, increasingly protagonist of the WTA circuit and her fourth Major trophy.

After almost a year of absence on the Tour, the talented Nick Kyrgios returned to the court in Melbourne, where he won a couple of games before giving up against Borna Coric in the round of 16 of the ATP 250 event organized in preparation for the first Grand Slam of the year.

At the Australian Open 2021, therefore, he overtook Federico Silva and Ugo Humbert before giving up in the third match against Austrian Dominic Thiem, after being two sets to zero.
