Daniil Medvedev: Novak Djokovic took all advantages on his side

Russia's Daniil Medvedev doesn't want to think about his Australian Open loss for too much as he is keen to turn his focus to his next tournament.

On Sunday, Medvedev failed to lift his maiden Grand Slam as he lost to world No. 1 Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open final.

Medvedev stood no chance against Djokovic as the now 18-time Grand Slam champion won 7-5 6-2 6-2.

"I'm usually quitte easy at defeats. I'll play in Rotterdam in a few weeks. That's the good part in tennis. It two days I'll be home and preparing for the next one. I will need, I would say, two days to go though it," Medvedev said, per Tennis Majors.

"The more I watch the games I lost, the more I am in the mood of the day I lost. That's why I don't like to do that. Moreover I feel I have them in the head."

Djokovic dominated Medvedev

After losing a tight first set, Medvedev started the second set with a break.

Unfortunately for the Russian, he failed to serve out for a 2-0 lead in the second set and his game fell apart from that moment.

"Rafa gives you more time to think about your game. Novak took all the advantages on his side," Medvedeav cknowledged.

"When I had a second serve to play, I was not that bad but his serving was exceptionnal. I could have served better today but he puts pressure on yourself."

Djokovic, who recovered from two sets to one down in last year's Australian Open final, has now won back-to-back titles at Melbourne Park and he has won a record ninth Australian Open title.

"Novak likes the surface here probably. He feels the atmosphere here. There is something in Melbourne he likes so much," Medvedev said.
