Francesca Fiorellini, new hope for italian golf

A month of May to be framed for Francesca Fiorellini: the 15-year-old from Rome won the National Women's Championship / Giuseppe Silva Trophy on Monday 31st at the Golf Brianza in Usmate Velate (Monza). This is the second title in less than twenty days: Fiorellini is in fact a veteran of the success at the National Girls Championships / Silvio Marrazza Trophy.

The race of the Brianza club on the outskirts of Monza ended on Monday morning. The race was held in two phases: the first qualifying on 36 holes stroke play, the second with match play formulas.

In the final, the standard bearer of Olgiata (and number three in the national ranking) surpassed (6/5) Alessia Mengoni, who is a member of another club in the capital, namely the Archi di Claudio.

Previously Fiorellini had overtaken Maeve Rossi (Ambrosiano) in the round of 32, Clara Manzalini in the second round (always Ambrosiano), Alice Gatti in the quarterfinals (Villa d’Este) and Alessia Fornara (Des Iles Borromees).

The second classified Alessia Mengoni instead had the better of Giulia Bellini (Padua), Marta Spiazzi (Madonna di Campiglio), Elisa Galli (Monticello) and Charlotte Cattaneo in the semifinal (Milan).

The National Women's / Giuseppe Silva Trophy, a championship open to all Italian golfers without any age or status constraints, was staged in the setting of Golf Brianza, a club that will undoubtedly still be talked about in the coming months.

The 15-year-old from Olgiata already has three national titles on the bulletin board: before the double in less than a month there was the victory in the 2017 Baby Championship. and in the Girls Under 16 Open Championship 2019.

In parallel, the Men's National Championships were played in Piedmont. Davide Buchi (Varese) won at the Betulle and overtook Elia Dallanegra (Croara) in the final (5/3).
